Accessibility
Our accessibility commitments
This page describes what is actually implemented on this website today, not an aspirational policy.
Semantic structure
Pages use headings, landmarks, lists and labelled sections in the order they appear visually, so the structure of a page is understandable through a screen reader as well as visually.
Keyboard usability
Navigation, filters, accordions, forms and interactive cards on this site are built to be operable from a keyboard alone, without a mouse or touch input.
Visible focus states
Interactive elements show a visible focus ring when navigated to by keyboard, so it is always clear where you are on the page.
Contrast
Text and interface colors are drawn from a controlled palette chosen for readable contrast against both the light and navy backgrounds used across the site.
Reduced motion support
Animations on this site are restrained by default. Visitors who set a system preference for reduced motion are shown a version of the site with transitions and motion effects minimized.
Form labelling
Every form field on this site has a visible, programmatically associated label, and validation errors are announced so they can be heard as well as seen.
- Required fields are marked and announced
- Errors are linked to their field and read out on submission
- Success and status messages use live regions
Ongoing work
Accessibility is treated as an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-time check. We review new pages and components against the practices above as they are built.
